Laurel on The Square – It’s a Festive October on Rittenhouse Square

Farmers’ Market – Saturdays, 9 AM to 3 PM
Bob Pierson of Farm to City shares insight into Rittenhouse Square’s Farmers’ Market. Future residents of The Laurel will be able to source fresh vegetables, herbs and other market delights from just outside their new Center City address.

The market has been in operation for 20 twenty years. Bob first envisioned the market as a place where residents of Rittenhouse Square could come to find fresh and wholesome food, while also supporting the economy and local farmers.

The market now houses a variety of goods every Saturday – meats, cheese, fruits, vegetables, and specialty products like baked goods and gourmet chocolate from local artisans.

Bob hopes the market can become a place where future residents of The Laurel complete their weekly shopping, meet new friends, and indulge in fresh, local finds. They will be only steps away from the weekly market, and some will even have a bird’s-eye view from their Sky Residences.

Halloween Parade – Saturday, October 2611 AM to 2 PM
Join Friends of Rittenhouse Square for an annual pre-school costume parade featuring the city’s most adorable ghouls and goblins.

Eva Walker interviews Jenna Geiger, a member from Friends of Rittenhouse Square, on the upcoming second annual Little Friends Halloween Fun Day & Parade. Jenna emphasizes this is the perfect opportunity for those who will call The Laurel home to get to know other residents on the Square.

The annual event will feature a costume parade, face painting, sugary treats, refreshments and much more! Participants meet at the goat statue in The Square to show off their costumes, then parade to the library for a not-too-scary Halloween story time. Individual kids and preschool groups are welcome!

A rain date is set for Sunday, October 27 from 11 AM to 2 PM.
